The Home Secretary, Shabana Mahmood’s new Senior Advisor on migration and borders suggested the creation of “safe and legal” routes for tens of thousands of individuals “specifically targeted” at would-be Channel migrants, the Centre for Migration Control can reveal.
He also authored reports recommending that the British government should make it easier for new arrivals to obtain citizenship, and that some form of freedom of movement with the EU should be retained after Brexit.
Another Senior Advisor to the Home Secretary previously called for a Syrian resettlement scheme to allow “significant numbers” into Britain
The revelations come as the Home Secretary commences with plans to open up “safe and legal” routes for migrants from Afghanistan and Palestine, whilst continuing to delay the implementation of her modest reforms to Indefinite Leave to Remain.
It should focus minds of those fascinated by the inability of politicians to actually adhere to the wishes of the British public, that it is not just the politicians themselves wilfully embarking on a ruinous course for our country, but those around them as well.
This is the first of a two part series that aims to highlight the problems inherent within the Labour-run Home Office. The second will reveal the astonishing inability of Home Office officials to monitor and tackle the dysfunction at the heart of the migration system, with a woeful “data desert” that makes effective policymaking nigh on impossible.
